Stop Contributing To Terrorism!

Stop Contributing to Terrorism!

Get your attention?

Good, because I want the message of this blog gets across nice and strong.

Since the Paris attacks, well over 50 Muslims, and countless others across the world, have been wrongfully attacked for simply being a part of the faith, or in some cases, for simply being middle-eastern. I don’t like to use the phrase Islamophobia, as I feel it shuts down any conversation that could lead to a peaceful reformation of Islam. I do think one should be able to criticize the doctrine, along with any laws or motivations that come from it. But when it comes to physically attacking and harassing people, then you have gone well beyond acceptable critique.

Today, instead of calling it the ultra-progressive term, Islamophobia, I’m calling this what it is: terrorism.

In some cases it’s Christian Terrorism, in others it’s White Terrorism, in others it’s Anti-Immigrant Terrorism or Anti-Muslim Terrorism – the ideas really can go on for as long as there are people around to create new ones. So let’s just put it under one spectrum, because it clearly all comes from the same type of incentives.

Let’s call it terrorism, because that is what it is. Quite ironic, when you consider what the people engaging in these actions are afraid of others committing the exact same things against them.

What is terrorism?

It’s an action of destructive or terrifying proportions in order to further a particular ideology.

That is quite simple. If people aren’t committing acts of terrorism, then they are not terrorists, just like many of the Muslims who are being attacked. Going out of the way to attack, harass or abuse people, is enabling and replicating the very terrorism people are so afraid of.

To be a fair, a person may be afraid, or may just want immigrants out of their country. They may be for the white power movement, or some other kind of totalitarian state. They may just not be very well-informed, and jumping into the nearest bandwagon they see.

Personally, I don’t give a shit. I’m against all of those absolutes. That said, a person is allowed to have those ideas. What they’re NOT allowed to do is terrorize and attack regular, peace-loving people, for simply opposing those ideas.  You can debate their ideas, but that’s where the line is drawn. You can’t combat terrorism with more terrorism. It doesn’t work!

The moment a person physically attacks, or harasses people for simply having differing views, is the same moment they have become a terrorist fighting for their own ideas through forceful action. Perhaps those who engage in this type of action always were this way. They just needed the right victim to sink your claws into.

I don’t know what else to say. It honestly feels like I’m trying to explain how to behave to a group of misbehaving children (though, I’m confident my audience is more rational than that).

All in all, we need to stop the bigotry against Muslims, and the outright hate that’s fueled by labels and stereotypes. There is a difference between debating and reforming the ideology for the better, and attacking the people for personal or ideological gain – especially when it comes to physically harm.

Once you start attacking the people who haven’t done anything wrong – when you deal in absolutes, especially about people, you only push the central solution further away. This makes the real debate harder to have, and any peaceful outcome, more difficult to achieve.

  1. If you find these difficult to understand, you need to go to the same efforts to understand the Quran! No where in the Bible does God tell Jews or Christians to use terrorism, rape, murder, poisoning, taxing of infidels, harassment, stabbing infidels just because they are infidels, and more! Nor will you find a New Testament or a God who became one of us in order to sacrifice His perfect sinless human self for even our darkest aforementioned sins! Nor will you find the word Islam, Muhammad, Quran, or anything else Muslim, unlike the Quran, because it came 635 years after Christ. And you will not find anything in the Bible that says you can’t speak against the Bible of God or you will be murdered by followers who are obligated to do so, because that is also in the Quran. Study for yourself and see.

    • I disagree with just about all of your comment – partially because it’s so damn jumbled it lakes any real cohesion. The bible DOES approve of rape, genocide or punishment of sodomites (infidels), harassment, and much more. Also, it’s in the first 3 commandments that you are not allowed to say anything against Christ. Don’t tell me to do research when you ignore the first three fundamentals of your religion.

If you really don’t believe me, here are some passages from , pulled from the Christian Bible, and cross-referenced with the one I hold in my hand at this very moment:

Leviticus 20:13 – If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them.

Leviticus 24:16 – And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, [and] all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name [of the LORD], shall be put to death.

Timothy 2:12, in which the saint says: “I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, she must be silent.”

Ephesians 5:22, “Wives, submit to you husbands as to the Lord”

1 Peter 2:18 “Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the cruel.”

I really could go on and on. But that’s not even the point of your argument.

Your argument is absurd, because it does not justify the amount of absolute violence and bigotry that is being advocated and performed against Muslims by people in North America.

In this debate, I really don’t care if your Christian bible does or doesn’t say anything for or against rape – this isn’t the issue we are discussing right now. The issue is the hatred and violence against Muslims who have done no wrong, and some have stood up against the atrocities, recognizing the problem.

Have an open discussion against the Qu’ran. That’s fine. It has barbaric texts and practices – much like many religions do, or have in the past. They lead to problems, as they do in ALL fundamentalist religions.

It’s when people, mainly civilians, take it upon themselves to solve the problem by instilling the same hatred and violence upon innocent people, that we have a major issue.

      • I agree that individuals who repay evil for evil are not living the Christian New Testament tenets. But in Arabia you would be jailed or executed or most likely both, for making the same statements where you appear you are in support of homosexuality. Christianity gave us our freedoms of dissent and speech. Islam never would because you are not given that right in Islam. Islam is translated “submit” a pure unconditional command. Therefore, you should be careful what you defend and attack. You may be sawing off the branch you are sitting on. (Fundamentals of Christian belief ).

      • I never said that at all. Violence is indoctrinated into the Bible the same as it is in the Qu’ran, though it is not practiced nearly as much. I never said Islam wasn’t violent, or that it wasn’t a problem in the middle east. If you’ve read my past articles, you would know that. I simply said that physically harming people, and harassing them, simply for being under the umbrella of said ideology, is not a helpful solution, and constitutes as terrorism.

And I am an atheist, good sir. I find your inference me of being a Christian slightly offensive, and a portrayal of complete ignorance of my writing on your part.

Have a good day. I’m done with this debate. You have raised no points of contention.

      • One more time? You never said that to begin with. And there is certainly a comparison, some of which are in the very passages I quoted to you. Yes, the fundamentals of Islam are causing much more damage in the world right now. Yes, the doctrine is slightly more violent. But incomparable? No.

And once again, the difference between the Bible and the Qu’ran in this discussion has no relevance, and proves absolutely nothing.

      • More research? I find that funny, considering I’m the only one who actually made any real references or citations in this argument. All you’ve done is make assertions and assumptions.

        Have a good night.

      • You are either ignorant, or blind. I have mentioned the posts about the Qu’ran that I have written, and the fact that their barbaric practices need to be criticized. I have said three or four times that YES the Qu’ran has it’s issues, and it is not a peaceful book. Neither is the old or new testament, and both of those facts are true if you are actually honest and not going off of a personal bias. Which, you “‘Christ’ Centered Teaching”, clearly have.

Now, here’s the last clear point I will humor you with:

JUST BECAUSE THE DOCTRINE IS BARBARIC, IT DOES NOT JUSTIFY ATTACKING OR HARASSING PEOPLE WHO DO NO HARM. I was talking about moderate and secular Muslims who are wrongfully attacked. Not the fundamentalist in third-world countries. That was the subject of today’s post, so kindly pull your head out of your ass.

If you have nothing to say about the actual subject of today’s post, please leave my comment section alone, and go back to your bubble.

On that note, I bid you goodnight for the final time.
